It had to happen, and sure enough, it is: the first PS5 game delay out of September 2026 has been shared. Valor Mortis, from Ghostrunner developer One More Level, revealed less than a week ago it was releasing on 24th September 2026.
That meant it would release on the same day as Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush, Control Resonant, and Silent Hill: Townfall, and only one day before Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
The team has recognised this wouldn’t be a good idea and has delayed the launch of Valor Mortis to 13th October 2026.
Since the original release date was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, it had to lock that date in “weeks in advance”, at which point it looked pretty clear. It appears many other publishers thought the same, as the day has become incredibly crowded.
Speaking to Game File, publishing head Blake Rochkind said it was decided the release date would be changed as soon as Control Resonant announced it would be launching on the same day. At the time its initial release date was decided internally, “there were so many unknowns”, according to Rochkind. “This was before Sony State of Play, before Xbox Showcase, before Nintendo Direct, before Summer Games Fest.”
Now, it’ll be 13th October 2026 for Valor Mortis. That’s the same day as Planet Zoo 2, and two days before Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. With the promising Soulslike removed from September 2026 now delayed, here’s what the end of the month now looks like:
Still pretty crowded, right? I expect there’ll still be more movement to come for these PS5 titles.
