Apple hinted at three new products this week with fall launches rumored

Apple’s WWDC announcements for iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate were packed with hints about new hardware, including three new products expected to launch this fall.

#1: iPhone Ultra

The first foldable iPhone is launching this September, and iOS 27 is packed with hints about the iPhone Ultra.

iOS 27 beta code, for example, has references to an iPhone’s fold state, angle, and number of built-in displays.

Additionally, Apple built landscape support into many more built-in apps, prepped developers about new app resizing needs, and now lets you freely resize macOS Golden Gate’s iPhone Mirroring app.

For a company that so highly values secrecy, it’s pretty remarkable how much evidence iOS 27 contains about a foldable iPhone’s existence.

#2: MacBook Ultra

Apple is expected to launch its first touchscreen Mac this fall too: the MacBook Ultra.

It’s no surprise, then, that macOS Golden Gate offers a variety of hints about touch support coming to the Mac.

Scroll to refresh, the touch-friendly iPhone gesture, is a new addition to macOS Golden Gate. Sidecar adds direct touch input. Messages gains a new Drawing iMessage app, and Markup tools come to more Mac apps.

Finally, spacing on UI elements like the menu bar has been updated to accommodate larger touch targets.

#3: Home security camera

Among the many Apple Home products in the fall pipeline, Apple is rumored to have its own security camera coming.

Per Bloomberg, this “in-home, privacy centric security camera” will compete with third-party HomeKit cameras and support HomeKit Secure Video. Mark Gurman writes:

The device has facial recognition and infrared sensors to determine who is in a room. Apple believes users will place cameras throughout their home to help with automation. That could mean turning lights off when someone leaves a room or automatically playing music liked by a particular family member.

iOS 27’s new Home app features strongly hint at Apple’s security camera debuting soon.

Out of the five new Home features, four are tied to HomeKit Secure Video—including the long-requested support for 4K video. Apple prioritizing big changes to HomeKit Secure Video are no doubt tied to having its own camera launching soon.
