Jessica Pegula and Hosts of “The Player’s Box” Podcast Reflect on Jeļena Ostapenko’s Selling Activity
The World No. 6, Jessica Pegula, concluded her 2025 season impressively by making her fourth appearance at the WTA Finals, which were held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She reached the semifinal stage, where the eventual champion, Elena Rybakina, defeated her. Apart from this, she clinched three titles on three different surfaces and has reached multiple final and semifinal rounds.
During their recent episode of “The Player’s Box” podcast, Pegula shared her lighthearted and admirable reaction to Ostapenko selling her stuff through another of her Instagram accounts. The daughter of billionaire Terry Pegula further highlighted her praise for the Latvian, who was making a side hustle by selling perfumes and other household items.
She added, “We have to give a little shout-out. Jelena Ostapenko. She is selling things on Instagram. We have to give her a plug. We had it in here as Jelena’s Marketplace, which is really funny. And I came across this because tennis Twitter people start posting stuff that they’ve bought from Jelena Ostapenko, and I was like What are you talking about? So she sold a Dyson vacuum cleaner. She sold some perfumes. I think, she also sold like clothes, bathing suits, like it doesn’t matter. Her Instagram handle is “j.o.clothes1997″.”
While highlighting her praise for Ostapenko, she continued, “We also respect it because the girl is just trying to get her bag and make her money. It’s kind of awesome.”

Another host, 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys, also added her thoughts while comparing this version of selling stuff on Instagram to direct buyers to Facebook selling, which she disclosed was a fishy experience for her, as she was ghosted.
She said, “It’s probably better than Facebook Marketplace, which I have used. She doesn’t have any scammers like Facebook Marketplace. I get the people that are like, “Is this still available?” and then I get ghosted or whatever.”
Ostapenko also concluded her season at the WTA Finals, where she reached the doubles semifinal stage alongside former doubles World No. 1 Taiwanese player Hsieh Su-wei. She won the Boss Open and Abu Dhabi title in women’s doubles with Ellen Perez and the Charleston Open with Erin Routliffe.
