Arsenal’s Declan Rice explains why people cannot compare him to Moises Caicedo, it makes no sense

Arsenal star Declan Rice and Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo have sparked a big debate this season.

The two midfielders have had a great start to the new campaign and have played a big part in leading their sides to the top two in the Premier League table.

That has led to conversations over who is better. Roy Keane picked Rice over Caicedo without any hesitation, while Gary Neville was of the opposite opinion.

However, this debate makes no sense whatsoever – Rice has explained why.

Declan Rice reacts to Moises Caicedo comparisons

Arsenal and Chelsea fans have had long debates over who is better out of Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo.

The former West Ham man is more established in the Premier League, and his consistency is on another level compared to the Ecuador international.

That is why Arsenal fans will argue that Rice is the better player, but everyone is missing a key point while having this debate.

The Arsenal number 41, who was asked about the comparisons with Caicedo, made it clear that he respects him, but he also pointed out how the two players don’t even play in the same position.

That is why they cannot be compared.

Rice told CBS Sports: “First and foremost, I have a lot of respect for Moises.

“I have played against him since the Brighton days, since I was at West Ham. I voted for him last year in my PFA Team of the Year. I thought he was outstanding last year, and he has started this year incredibly well.

“There’s so much comparison, but we are playing different positions. He’s a full-blown six, and I am more of a box-to-box eight.

“Sunday is going to be an interesting game, but the most important thing is that I have a lot of respect for him as a player, like Roy (Keane) and Patrick (Vieira) did.

“It’s an exciting battle between us, and it’s one I’ll be ready for, for sure.”

Moises Caicedo should be competing with Martin Zubimendi, not Declan Rice

With Rice making it clear that he is not a defensive midfielder, Chelsea fans may think that Caicedo is the undisputed best in his position now.

However, Martin Zubimendi will have a thing or two to say about that.

The Spaniard has been sensational for the Gunners since he joined the club in the summer. He has taken next to no time to adapt and has barely put a foot wrong.

Zubimendi, whom Rodri has claimed is his heir, is already one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, and he is right up there with Caicedo.

If he has a good game and helps Arsenal beat Chelsea on Sunday, it will be clear that Zubimendi is the best number six in the Premier League.
