Barcelona ready to give up 20-goal striker in an attempt to sign top attacking target

As we move closer to the summer transfer window, Barcelona are growing seemingly keen on striking a breakthrough with Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez.

The Argentine international is the club’s undisputed number one target heading into the summer transfer window.

With Robert Lewandowski facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou, Barcelona view Alvarez as the ideal long-term solution to the club’s goalscoring problems.

Barcelona ready to give up Ferran

According to El Pais, Barcelona are ready to give up on Ferran Torres in an attempt to sweeten the Julian Alvarez deal.

The Catalans believe Ferran has no place in the club’s plans if they are to sign Alvarez in the coming summer, and therefore, see him as a disposable unit.

Having scored many goals for Barcelona in recent years, Ferran has a sizable market value and Barcelona are looking to tap into it by offering him as a makeweight.

The Blaugrana believe Atletico Madrid are expected to demand a fee of around €120-140 million for the services of the Argentine international.

Offering Ferran in a player-plus cash deal, therefore, could go a long way in lowering the cost of operation of the Alvarez deal.

That said, Ferran’s future at Barcelona may depend hinge on the future of Robert Lewandowski, who is yet to make a final decision even as his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Pole has the option to continue at Barcelona at a reduced salary and role in the first-team. But he has received offers from MLS and Italy.

Alvarez, for his part, is ready to leave Atletico Madrid this summer, having failed to win a single major trophy this season. He will continue to push for a move to Catalonia.
