Liverpool could be on the lookout for a new left-back with Andy Robertson leaving and a former player has cited Lewis Hall as an ideal target, who could replace Milos Kerkez
Danny Murphy has urged Liverpool to try and land another one of Newcastle’s top stars in Lewis Hall ahead of a summer of potential upheaval at St James’ Park.
The Magpies look set to miss out on Europe after a poor campaign, which has seen the pressure ramp up on Eddie Howe. There is talk of some of their major players moving on as the club feel the impacts of no European football whilst they look to remain financially compliant.
Last summer they saw Alexander Isak leave for Anfield and now the Merseysiders have been urged to go back in for their left-back, who has been among their best performers this term.
Liverpool are losing stalwart Andy Robertson this summer with the Scot leaving when his contract expires and Murphy doesn’t think there are many better left-backs who could be available.
He told Betarades: “It’s probably unlikely you’re going to get him out because it it looks like [Sandro] Tonali might go and [Anthony] Gordon might go, but if Newcastle do have to sell and you can pinch him, even if you have to pay a bit more for him, he’s still a young man, he’s got the Premier League experience, and I think he’s been one of Newcastle’s shining lights this season.

“There’s a lot of great left-backs out there not worth mentioning because I don’t think you’d tear them away from PSG, Bayern Munich, and they’re at some of the biggest clubs in the world, and you’d like to be able to grab them and take them, but I’m not sure.”
Liverpool invested £40million in a new left-back last summer, landing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. The Hungarian by no means hit the ground running and Murphy isn’t convinced he has what it takes to be a regular in a trophy-winning side, which could force them into the market once again.
He said: “Kerkez is a trier and he’s improved, is he at the level Liverpool need to win league titles and Champions League? My feeling is that he’s not. He’s probably an understudy; he’s probably a backup. Now, if you’ve got 60 games in a season and you’re competing in all competitions, you can’t just have one. But he’s not better than Andy Robertson.”
Newcastle been tipped to lose at least one of Tonali or Gordon, with the latter being on Bayern Munich’s radar. There has been little noise surrounding an exit for Hall whilst Bruno Guimaraes, another leading light, has often spoken publicly about his desire to stay at St James’ Park.
