Star Fox Direct finally revives Fox McCloud with stunning Nintendo Switch 2 remake launching in June

Fans of the iconic space combat franchise are finally getting a new mission. During the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo unveiled Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2, confirming that Fox McCloud and his crew will return on June 25 in a fully modernized reimagining of the classic Star Fox 64. The upcoming Star Fox remake marks the franchise’s first brand-new release since Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard launched in 2016, excluding the delayed official release of Star Fox 2 in 2017

The new Star Fox game, revealed during the Star Fox Direct, is described as “an action-packed adventure based on Star Fox 64 for Nintendo 64” and will feature “a complete visual overhaul of the game” alongside new gameplay systems, multiplayer battles, GameChat integration, and Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.

The upcoming Star Fox Switch 2 title modernizes the original Star Fox 64 experience with upgraded environments, cinematic storytelling, and fully voiced interactions between characters. Nintendo also highlighted that players can “find alternative routes through the Lylat System during multiple playthroughs, taking on new missions and varied challenges.”
