As IT hiring slows, the recruitment business is taking a backseat at Info Edge for the first time. The fortunes of Info Edge, which owns 12.24% of Zomato, are now more tied to the valuation of the food aggregator.
In August 2010, when Sanjeev Bikhchandani invested USD1 million (approximately INR4.6 crore then) in Zomato through his holding company Info Edge, the bet was solely on Deepender Goyal and his idea of making restaurant discovery a new industry category.
