‘Kade vi nahi… Mera kaam entertainment karna’: Diljit Dosanjh declines to take political plunge

Reacting to the news report that whether Diljit Dosanjh is planning to enter politics, the Punjabi singer-actor has declined to take the political plunge, saying his focus remains solely on entertainment.

The Punjabi singer has been in the news in recent days not only for his Aura 2026 tour, but also for taking on pro-Khalastani elements.

His response came after a report in Punjabi Tribune, saying: “Kade vi nahi… Mera kaam entertainment karna. I am very happy in my field. Thank you so much,” in a post on X.

The news gained momentum after Jaago Punjab Manch – a group of civil society activists drawn from various walks of life, including retired Army personnel, publicly appealed to him to enter politics through a full-page advertisement published in a leading English daily.

The organisation urged Diljit to “seize the moment” and enter the political arena, possibly marking one of the first such public appeals made to a singer by a social group in recent times.

Meanwhile, a new video of Diljit from his Calgary concert surfaced ahead of his concert in Winnipeg, Canada, in which he said, “I’m being abused from both sides,” amid protests by pro-Khalistan supporters.

During the show, he said, “I am abused from both sides. In India, people call me Khalistani, while here they — pro-Khalistani elements — call me ‘India wala’. I don’t understand where I belong, but I feel I’m on the right path.”

Tensions between the singer and some pro-Khalistan groups appear to have escalated after he criticised protesters displaying Khalistan flags during his Aura 2026 concert in Calgary on May 1.

Merely four pro-khalastani elements protested against him during his concert in Winnipeg, Canada, but failed to find support.
