Saratoga resident loses almost $13,000 in cryptocurrency scam – The Mercury News

Assault with a deadly weapon: At 2:30 p.m. on April 19, someone grabbed a kitchen knife at a residence in the 12000 block of Arroyo de Arguello and brandished it toward another person.

Theft by fault pretenses: On April 24, A Saratoga resident reported contacting unknown persons through a social media application where they posted free cleaning supplies. The resident was ultimately convinced to send cryptocurrency for a total loss of about $12,925.

May 7

Check fraud: Someone stole a check from a Saratoga resident and then altered and cashed it for a loss of about $15,200.

Check fraud: Someone stole a check from a Saratoga resident and then altered and cashed it for a loss of about $9,400.

Auto theft: At 3:47 a.m., someone stole a vehicle from the driveway of a residence in the 12000 block of Cambridge Drive for a total loss of about $67,000.
