Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 game-changing leak brings ‘crease-free’ display

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 leaks point to a familiar phone with one headline-grabbing change: a push towards a crease-free folding display. Early reports suggest Samsung is focusing on subtle hardware refinements instead of a radical redesign.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: Slimmer hinge, lighter body

According to Korean tipster yeux1122, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to use a redesigned hinge that makes the clamshell foldable around 0.5mm thinner when closed. The handset is also tipped to shave weight, dropping from 188g on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 to roughly 180g. Width may increase slightly, though industry sources describe the change as minimal and unlikely to alter the in-hand feel significantly.

The new hinge is central to Samsung’s effort to reduce the visible fold line across the inner screen. A tighter folding structure and refined panel layering are expected to help minimise the “valley” effect that has long divided opinion on foldable phones.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: Crease-free focus, familiar core hardware

The standout rumour is a “crease-free” or near crease-less main display, with leaks claiming the inner OLED panel will show far less of the fold than previous generations. Samsung is said to be sticking with its existing 25W charging standard and a 4,300mAh battery, mirroring the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The camera hardware is also tipped to stay the same, with a 50-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the inner screen.

Under the hood, the clamshell is rumoured to use Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chipset, continuing the company’s recent strategy of powering its flip-style foldables with in-house silicon rather than Qualcomm chips. Other components, including vibration motor, speakers and the cover display, are expected to see little or no change.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: Launch timing and what it means

Samsung has not confirmed the device, but multiple reports point to a Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 July in London, where the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and a wider Fold 8 variant are expected. If the leaks prove accurate, the Flip 8 will offer incremental upgrades centred on comfort and cosmetic polish rather than raw performance gains.

For buyers, that could make the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 a more refined, everyday foldable rather than a revolution, but a significantly softer crease may be enough to sway users who have so far sat on the fence.
