Crimson Desert
Pearl Abysas
Another day, another big Crimson Desert patch, and I’ve genuinely lost track of how many we’ve gotten in the last two months. Five? And these contain great, often very significant additions, and this morning’s patch is no exception, fixing one core problem with Abyss Artifact skill points. Plus some other fun still.
New Mounts
Seven new mounts have been added, though acquiring them may be a bit tricky. Mountain Goats, Kuku Birds, Iguanas, Raptors, Camels, Lions and Tigers can all be tamed and registered. “Ferocious” animals must be subdued (fought) and fed. Other species require “unique” methods that are not listed here. So the community has to go figure that out.
New Saddles
There are now special saddles being sold for all types of mounts that are designed to actually fit them. Here’s the location list:
- Hernand Saddlery – Saddles for Wolves and Bears
- Equinsher Saddlery – Saddles for Deer and Wolves
- Calphade Saddlery – Saddles for Bears and Kuku Birds
- Demeniss Saddlery – Saddles for Kuku Birds and Deer
- Pailune Saddlery – Saddles for Bears and Ibexes
- Delesyia Saddlery – Saddles for Warthogs
- Tommaso Saddlery – Saddles for Iguanas
- Varnia Saddlery – Saddles for Camels
Previously, Crimson Desert said there would be armor for special mounts too, but that has not arrived yet (slackers!).

Gear Materials Extraction
This is a big one. A new system at the Smithy allows you to recover materials you have invested in upgraded items to de-upgrade ones you don’t use and apply them elsewhere. This includes common materials, which are refunded at 70% of the amount, but most importantly, Abyss Artifacts (and Aeserion’s scale) will get you the full item for each rank. This is important because it costs six Abyss Artifacts to upgrade a single piece of gear, and now if you’ve done that with something you don’t use, you can get 1-6 of them back.
This does not solve what I would still say is a problem, in that I don’t know if those should cost points at all. Making even a single “alternate” set of weapons and armor is enormously expensive, and subtracting levels means that items is no longer a good alternative. I still don’t think it’s a good idea to have a full set of gear cost 70+ skill points. But at least this is a good interim fix, and is going to get me a lot of points to put into Damiane, who I am currently working on.
New Skills
There are new unarmed combat skills for Oonkga, while ones for Damiane will be added in another update. I’ll put this in here too, that Kliff can now wear some of Oongka’s outfits. What, no Demiane outfits?
Sheath Hiding
You can now hide not just weapons, but sheaths for weapons if you don’t want them displayed on your character.

Attack Dogs
The new Sigil of Valor will have your dog attack enemies. Cannot wait to see this on some of the small dogs.
Claw Machine
Located at the Laughing Marionette, it gives you new decorative items, plus special headgear, Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Gears.
Night Tone
You can turn this on, where “overall colors become softer, and darker, shaded areas appear slightly brighter” to fix what some said was a “too dark” nighttime period. Or you can just leave it off.
There’s certainly more, including a bunch of bug fixes, and you can check out the full list here. One of the only “nerfs” I can see is that one fish vendor no longer buys things for more money than everyone else. But really great changes, as ever.
