Ranveer Singh’s highly anticipated spy action thriller Dhurandhar has been leaked online, just hours after hitting theaters on December 5, 2025. The leak, circulating across multiple piracy websites in various resolutions ranging from 240p to 1080p, has sparked concern among fans and industry insiders alike. Despite government efforts to combat digital piracy, films continue to fall victim to illegal online distribution, raising questions about potential impacts on box office earnings.

Why you shouldn’t watch pirated content

Experts and industry insiders emphasise that watching pirated content is harmful on multiple levels. It directly affects filmmakers, actors, and technicians who invest months, sometimes years, into creating a movie, as piracy eats into box office collections and revenue streams. Moreover, pirated files often carry malware or viruses that can compromise viewers’ devices and personal data. By avoiding illegal downloads, audiences not only support the creative community but also help ensure better quality content and a safer viewing experience.

About the film and its box office collection

Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, was released across 5,000 screens nationwide. Opening day collections were strong, with morning shows recording nearly 16% occupancy, which surged to over 28% for afternoon screenings thanks to positive word of mouth. By 6 pm, the film had already earned ₹17.44 crore net, exceeding early trade estimates of ₹15–18 crore. Analysts predict that the total could surpass ₹20 crore by the end of the day.

The film follows Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, portrayed by R. Madhavan, as he leads a high-stakes mission to dismantle a terror network in Pakistan. Ranveer Singh plays a 20-year-old Punjabi youth recruited from prison and trained to infiltrate Karachi’s criminal underworld. Shot across Thailand, Mumbai, Punjab, and Ladakh between July 2024 and October 2025, the film has a runtime of 214 minutes, making it one of the longest theatrical releases in India.

The star-studded cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun, who plays the love interest of Ranveer’s character. Audiences have praised not only Ranveer’s performance but also the ensemble cast and Dhar’s direction.

Dhurandhar has drawn attention for its scale and sensitive subject matter. The CBFC awarded it an ‘A’ certificate due to depictions of the IC-814 Kandahar hijacking and references to the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and Operation Lyari.

Looking ahead, the announcement of Dhurandhar 2, slated for March 19, 2026, sets the stage for a potential box office clash with Yash’s upcoming action film Toxic.
