Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly opened talks over a blockbuster summer move for one of Arsenal’s leading attacking targets, with the proposed deal expected to cost in the region of £130 million.
Reports in Spain claim the French champions are prepared to make a huge financial push as they look to strengthen ahead of next season, potentially dealing a major blow to Arsenal’s transfer plans.
The development comes just weeks before the UEFA Champions League final, where Arsenal are preparing for the biggest European night in the club’s modern history. Mikel Arteta’s side have impressed throughout the competition, eliminating several major contenders on their way to the final and showcasing a blend of tactical discipline, attacking fluidity and defensive resilience.

Their route to the final has further strengthened the club’s appeal in the transfer market, with Arsenal expected to pursue significant additions during the summer window. A new centre-forward has been identified as one of the club’s top priorities, particularly after another season in which questions remained over consistency in front of goal despite the team’s overall progress.
Ironically, their final opponents are expected to be the same club now threatening to hijack one of Arsenal’s key transfer ambitions. PSG have been aggressively planning for the future under Luis Enrique and are reportedly willing to outspend any rival to land elite attacking talent ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.
According to reports originating from Spanish outlet El Chiringuito, PSG have now opened discussions with Atletico Madrid regarding a possible deal for Julian Alvarez. The Argentina international has emerged as one of the most sought-after forwards in European football following an outstanding campaign in Spain.
Further reports from Football365 and Goal state that PSG are prepared to submit a record offer worth around €150 million, approximately £130 million, in order to convince Atlético to sell. Luis Enrique is believed to view Alvarez as a central figure in PSG’s long-term attacking project.

The 26-year-old has attracted interest from several elite clubs, including Arsenal and Barcelona, after starring for Atletico since joining from Manchester City. Diego Simeone recently acknowledged growing interest in the forward, while reports in Spain suggest Atlético would only consider a sale for a fee exceeding €100 million.
Alvarez has enjoyed another prolific season in front of goal, further enhancing his reputation as one of Europe’s most complete forwards. The Argentine World Cup winner is capable of playing centrally or in deeper attacking roles, qualities that have made him particularly attractive to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as he looks to add greater versatility and finishing quality to his squad.
However, PSG’s financial power could prove decisive. With Barcelona continuing to face economic restrictions and Arsenal traditionally more cautious with spending at the very top end of the market, the Ligue 1 giants may now be in the strongest position to complete the signing if negotiations progress further in the coming weeks.
