First day box office forecast: Rs. 3-6 crore
The female-led action genre hasn’t traditionally found much success in India. Being a part of the YRF Spy Universe should have provided some cushion in terms of initial traction, but the film arrives at a time when the franchise itself does not appear to enjoy the same level of goodwill it once did.
In such a scenario, the promotional material becomes particularly important. The teaser released yesterday looked decent. It is the sort of asset that could have worked better under more favourable circumstances. However, given the pre-release scepticism surrounding the film, it needed something stronger to break the stigma.
Jigra, another Alia Bhatt led action genre film, opened to Rs. 4.50 crore in 2024. At present, Alpha appears to be tracking to open about the same unless the later promos come up drastically better.
Other Updates
Main Vaapas Aaunga hasn’t made any meaningful strides leading up to the final week of release. The film is said to be carrying positive reports, but whether they actually land needs to be seen. The forecast remains largely unchanged, but reaching the previously forecasted higher end of Rs. 4 crore seems to be difficult.
The all-important trailer of Welcome Back to the Jungle was just released. The four-minute-long trailer shows off its ensemble cast. The initial reactions seem to be middling; there will be more clarity in the coming days. For now, the forecast remains unchanged at Rs. 20-26 crore, although the pinpoint is lowered from Rs. 25 crore to Rs. 22 crore.
