Kiara Advani opened up about postpartum emotions, missing Sidharth Malhotra during his film promotions, right after their daughter’s birth.

Kiara Advani recently opened up about her emotional postpartum journey and the support she received from husband Sidharth Malhotra after the birth of their daughter, Saraayah Malhotra. Speaking during a podcast with Raj Shamani, the actress got candid about mood swings, emotional breakdowns, the idea of “hands-on” fathers and how sometimes new mothers simply need someone to listen.
During the conversation, Kiara reflected on how fathers often feel they are doing everything possible for their child and partner, yet still wonder what they may be lacking emotionally. Opening up on Sidharth, Kiara said, “Like my husband, how you say hands-on. Abhi unke liye he’s doing his best, right? He feels like, and he is. He’s there. I think har mard ko yahi lag raha hoga na ki, ‘Par main toh hoon, main koshish kar raha hoon, main sab kar raha hoon, par aisa kya hai jo main nahi kar raha hoon?’ or ‘What am I lacking?’ Because nobody talks, koi batane wala hai hi nahi that what you should do, what you need. For everyone, it’s different, I am sure.”
The actress also explained how most attention during the infant stage naturally shifts towards the baby, routines, feeding schedules, diaper changes, massages and sleep cycles, while the emotional needs of mothers often go unspoken.
“But sab na, I think baby ke liye bahut sochte hain. Baccha so raha hai, baccha theek hai, you know, help my wife and diaper changes, ya phir giving my baby a bath, massages, the routine that the first few months of the infant stage is.”
Sharing what helped her most emotionally, Kiara said that sometimes mothers simply want space to express themselves without receiving advice.
She admitted that during those early postpartum days, even the smallest things would trigger tears. “Us waqt, I don’t know if it was just me missing him in my life at that point or what, but I was going through… everything was triggering me. Anything matlab, you could say something which today we laugh about, but at that point during those first few days, anything could just… pat pat pat pat pat… mere aansu nikal jaate.”
