Megan Thee Stallion has announced she’s dropping out of Moulin Rouge! The Musical weeks before her run was due to end. News that Megan is departing from the Broadway show comes after her very public breakup with her boyfriend, which dramatically played out over social media this weekend.
Megan Thee Stallion shares a message to her fans
To recap, Megan made her Broadway debut as Zidler on March 24. In doing so, she became the first woman to play the character on stage.
The three-time Grammy Award-winning rapper was scheduled to complete her run on May 17. But on April 27, she took to Instagram to confirm her early departure.
“Hotties, my last performance as Zidler in @moulinrougebway will be May 1,” she told her fans. “It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family.”
“I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater! Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work!” the rapper continued. “I’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful.”
“And to all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey!” she concluded her statement. “I LOVE Y’ALL.”
The reason for Megan’s departure from the Broadway show has not been revealed. However, she was previously forced to pull out of two performances due to hospitalization in March.
“I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough,” she wrote in an Instagram post on April 1. “It honestly scared me.”
“I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have,” she went on.
