Maxsun has updated its Intel MoDT (Mobile on Desktop) lineup with two new motherboards featuring the Core 200H “Raptor Lake” CPUs.
Intel Raptor Lake “Core 200H” MoDT Motherboards Are Now Super-Affordable, & Compatible With DDR4 Memory
MoDT motherboards come in all shapes and sizes. We have seen ATX and mATX offerings, with higher-end versions featuring up to AMD 9955HX3D and Intel 285H options. The thing is that MoDT boards generally aim at the value segment, offering prices that are much lower than traditional socketed CPUs and motherboard combos. These motherboards offer a 2-in-1 design, and while they lack the option of CPU upgrades, they still offer decent capabilities that will last for years in budget gaming builds.
Now, Maxsun has introduced two brand new motherboards in this segment, the MS MoDT 230H D4 WIFI and the MS MoDT 205H D4 WIFI.
The names make it clear which CPU is offered on each motherboard. The faster option gets the Intel Core 7 230H, which is a 10-core variant with 6 P-Cores and 4 E-Cores, 16 threads, and a boost clock of up to 5.20 GHz. The chip features 24 MB of cache, a base power of 45W, and a maximum turbo power of 115W. The second option is the Intel Core 5 205H, which is an 8-core chip with 4 P-Cores and 4 E-Cores, 12 threads, a boost clock of up to 4.80 GHz, 12 MB cache, and a similar TDP.
As for the Maxsun MS-MODT motherboard, both options carry the same PCB design with a 5-phase VRM, a single 8-pin connector to power the CPU, two DDR4 DIMM slots, a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and a PCIe x4 slot. The board also features two M.2 Gen4 slots and two SATA III ports. IO includes 4 USB 3.2 Gen2, 2 USB 3.2 Gen1, 6 USB 2.0 ports, a 3-channel HD audio jack, Wi-Fi 6+BT 5.3 support, and a 1GbE LAN port.
The 230H option comes with a dedicated IO plate and heatsink over the VRMs, while the 205H doesn’t feature any heatsink. For the CPU, both models feature a pre-installed IHS. Unlike the higher-end MoDT motherboards, this isn’t a vapor chamber design, but is compatible with all LGA 1700/1800 coolers. The motherboard measures 190x180mm and conforms to the mATX standards.
In terms of pricing, the Maxsun MoDT motherboards will be priced between 800-1500 RMB, which is under $150 US for the entry-level model and around $200 US for the higher-end model. These are very reasonable prices given the features that these motherboards have on offer.
If you look at individual prices, the Core i5-13400 (10-Core) retails around $150-$180 US, while the Core i3 with 8-cores retails around $100 US. Plus, you are going to pay around $80-$100 US extra for a budget-tier motherboard. The fact that these MoDT designs feature DDR4 memory support also makes them great for entry-level builders as opposed to the more expensive DDR5 options.
