Matka King Ending Explained: Did Brij Bhatti Really Win Or Lose Everything? Season 2 Hints Inside

Matka King Ending Explained: ‘Matka King’ starring Vijay Varma, Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, Siddharth Jadhav, and Bhupendra Jadawat ends on a note that feels powerful but unsettling. At first, the series looks like a classic rise-to-power story. But by the final episode, it becomes clear this isn’t really a victory. It’s about what a man loses while trying to become ‘King’.

Set in the gambling underworld of 1960s Mumbai, the show follows Brij Bhatti’s journey from an ordinary man to a feared figure. Prime Video’s official synopsis states, “In 1960s Mumbai, an enterprising cotton trader who craves legitimacy and respect, starts a new gambling game dubbed ‘Matka’, that takes the city by storm and democratises a terrain previously reserved for the rich and elite.”

Matka King Ending Explained: What Happens To Brij Bhatti?

By the end of ‘Matka King’, Brij Bhatti (played by Vijay Varma) finally achieves what he always wanted – control over the Matka empire. He outsmarts his rivals, survives betrayal, and takes over the system. Brij Bhatti finishes the season seated on a ‘Throne of Gold’ and earthen pots, symbolising his complete ascension from a street-level hustler to the supreme king of the Mumbai gambling world.

Brij Bhatti became a major part of the gambling world. He manipulates the rigged system to his advantage, proving that survival in this world means playing just as dirty. The ending shows him sitting at the top of the gambling world but emotionally distant and morally changed.

One of the most shocking parts of the finale is the betrayal by his own brother, Lachu (played by Bhupendra Jadawat). The betrayal leads to a deadly confrontation, and Lachu’s death becomes the emotional breaking point of the story.

By the end, Brij may have control over the city, but he has lost his family, trust, and any sense of normal life.

Why Barkha Leaves Brij Bhatti In Matka King?

Brij becomes close to Gulrukh (played by Kritika Kamra), a wealthy Parsi widow who provides him with entry into elite class. But their affair causes a breach in Brij’s marriage with his wife, Barkha.

Barkha’s (played by Sai Tamhankar) decision to leave Brij is one of the most emotional moments in the finale. Barkha leaves Brij with their child because she realises he has fully accepted a life of crime and violence. She sees that he shows no real emotions or feelings after his brother Lachu’s death.
