Gigabyte GeForce buyer gets Radeon cooler, five months ago another user got the opposite

GeForce Radeon card found (again)

Gigabyte RTX 5060 Ti with Radeon shroud could finally meet its Radeon twin with GeForce cooler.

A Reddit user who bought a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5060 Ti from Canada Computers found an unusual assembly error after opening the box. The card appears to be a GeForce model, but one side of the cooler has a Radeon-branded shroud piece.

According to the user, the backplate says “GIGABYTE” and “GEFORCE RTX,” while the side piece next to the heatsink says “RADEON.” The user says the card itself checks out as an RTX 5060 Ti, so this does not appear to be a different GPU inside the box.

Gigabyte’s Radeon and GeForce cooler mix-up now has a matching pair

This is not the first time such a Gigabyte cooler mix-up has appeared on Reddit. Around five months ago, another user posted the reverse case. That buyer said they ordered a Radeon card, but the box contained a card with GeForce branding, while the small sticker still identified it as a Radeon RX 9060 XT.

At this point, the two users may have matching manufacturing errors. One appears to have a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with the missing Radeon side shroud. The other appeared to have a Radeon RX 9060 XT with GeForce-branded bodywork. If they ever meet, they may be able to complete the swap Gigabyte never finished.

The likely explanation is that Gigabyte uses similar or shared cooler parts across some Radeon and GeForce models. It is unclear how this left the factory, but the cards may use the same packaging or inspection line, which could explain why no one noticed the mistake. There may be more such cards in circulation, so collectors may want to watch for similar cases.
