Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online – Here’s What Actually Happens

In the days following its release, Saros players are reaching the conclusion of the PS5 exclusive action game, and not everyone is pleased with how things pan out.

Obviously, everyone is entitled to their opinion on the game and the story it tells, but sadly, there are some individuals spreading fabricated imagery and inaccurate plot details, seemingly in an attempt to drag the game down.

This sort of nonsense can only be countered by facts, and having completed the game, we’re in a position to set the record straight.

Heavy spoilers below.

Firstly, let’s go through what’s being said about Saros and its story that is either fake, inaccurate, or both.

Here’s What People Are Saying

The most egregious misinformation being spread amounts to a couple of AI-generated images, depicting two characters standing together who never meet in the game.

Namely, Nitya and Kayla are shown holding each other, but these characters never meet or otherwise interact whatsoever. It’s not even implied anywhere that they’re even aware of each other.

The origin of all this is an X account named Pirat_Nation. A now-deleted post said Saros features “a storyline involving a cucked man being betrayed and left by his wife for a lesbian woman.”

This is not accurate.

Here’s What Actually Happens

In Saros, Arjun is searching for Nitya, his wife, who traveled to Carcosa on the first expedition to the planet. This is his sole purpose and drive for the entire game.

Throughout the campaign, you will see snippets of events from Arjun’s past. These reveal more details about his personality, as well as his relationship with Nitya and other characters.

Much is left intentionally vague, but some heavy implications make certain events pretty clear cut.

  • Arjun and Nitya’s partnership was not a happy one; he appears to be manipulative and emotionally abusive, and was an alcoholic
  • It is heavily suggested that Arjun cheats on Nitya and kills his friend, who intended to inform her of the affair
  • Nitya leaves him, and takes a job on Soltari’s first mission to Carcosa, Echelon I, starting a new life
  • Through audio logs, text logs, and holo logs, you learn that the members of Echelon I become corrupted by the eclipse and unusual time patterns on the planet. Over centuries, several of them transform into powerful beings that the player must defeat as bosses
  • During this impossibly long time frame, Nitya forms a romantic relationship with a woman named Kiira, a fellow member of Echelon I
  • The first ending of Saros depicts Arjun defeating the King, then becoming the King, and taking Nitya’s hand. The implication here is that Arjun is stuck in a futile loop in which he stubbornly attempts to win Nitya back and restore things to how they were
  • In the second ending, Arjun defeats the King but doesn’t kill him, instead meeting Nitya on a beach where he finally lets go of his obsession and begins to take responsibility for his actions

So, in the end, the version of Saros’ story that’s doing the rounds online isn’t quite right.

Nitya leaves Arjun and moves on with her life; Arjun can’t accept that and wants to regain control, but the damage is already done.

The main thing to take away from this situation is that you should be careful what you read online.

No media should be exempt from criticism, but disliking something for valid reasons and intentionally spreading fake or inaccurate information are two different things.

We intend to put together a more thorough story breakdown in future.
