‘Elle’ Trailer: ‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel Series Goes to High School


Prime Video has released a teaser trailer for “Elle,” the prequel series to Reese Witherspoon’s comedy “Legally Blonde.”

“Elle” will give fans a glimpse into the life of a high school-aged Elle Woods when Season 1 releases on the streamer July 1. It has already been renewed for Season 2.

Per the official logline, the series “follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ film.”

Lexi Minetree makes her leading role debut as Woods, having previously had small roles in projects including “Law & Order: SVU,” “The Murdaugh Murders,” “Crowdsource Murder” and “The Paramedic Who Stalked Me.” June Diane Raphael will play her mother, while Tom Everett Scott will play her father. 

Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet and Lisa Yamada will all appear as recurring guest stars. Recurring cast members will also include Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada and the late James Van Der Beek.

“Elle” began filming back in April 2025, which Witherspoon announced on Instagram alongside a picture of Minetree. “Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production!” Earlier this year, the streamer renewed the series for a second season ahead of Season 1’s release. Season 2 production is set to begin this spring. 

Laura Kittrell created the series, and serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Caroline Dries. Executive producers include Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, Amanda Brown and Jason Moore, who also directed the first two episodes.
