Bayern Munich shares a different view to Vincent Kompany’s comments on Nicolas Jackson, with the club leaning against making the striker’s loan move from Chelsea permanent.
Nicolas Jackson’s loan spell at Bayern Munich has seen him take up a deputy role to Harry Kane. Despite starting only 12 matches across all competitions, the Senegalese forward has racked up an impressive nine goals and four assists in just over 1,000 minutes of action.
His recent form has been particularly sharp, netting crucial goals in Bundesliga victories over Borussia Monchengladbach and St. Pauli, alongside a standout performance in the Champions League round of 16 against Atalanta.
And Jackson is actually warming to the idea of going back to Chelsea and remaining there for the 2026/27 season. However, the striker will not hold talks about his future until after the World Cup.
Would you take any of these Premier League managers at Chelsea?
Bayern Munich are not convinced by Nicolas Jackson
German reporter Heiko Niedderer has claimed that Bayern Munich don’t see Jackson as a good fit, despite a positive assessment from Vincent Kompany (Bild).
The player in question is Nicolas Jackson, and the rumour is quite surprising because it’s been said that Kompany would like to keep him. Is that true or not true?
“That’s not true.
“I’m not exactly sure where that’s coming from. Maybe some colleagues read too much into a few of Kompany’s comments; he tends to protect Jackson a bit, especially since he gets a lot of criticism. He kind of defends him and says, “Look at his stats, he scores,” and so on.
“But if we’re being honest, and people at Bayern will tell you the same, he doesn’t really fit there. He struggles with Bayern’s combination play. Yes, he sometimes finds himself in the right position and scores, and his numbers aren’t bad. They’re decent: 28 appearances, 13 goal contributions in 1,116 minutes. That’s good.
What would you change in Cesc Fabregas’ potential Chelsea XI?
Still looks a bit young 🤔
“But at that level, as a striker receiving that many chances, you’d expect goals—others would probably score too. So yes, the numbers are okay, but he’s also often on the bench or even in the stands. And I think many fans feel the same way: when Bayern build their attacking play, he just doesn’t quite fit.
“Bayern don’t play a counter-attacking style, which might suit him better and allow him to use his strengths more. So I’m pretty convinced we won’t see him at Bayern next season—even if Kompany personally seems to like him.”
Kompany has spoken highly of Jackson on a couple of occasions, even suggesting that rumours of bad behaviour are not true whatsoever.
“He played very well today. I have to say that I noticed since I’ve been here that when everything is going well in the team, there are attempts to single out a player or two without any reason.
“The guy hasn’t done anything wrong, he trained extremely well, he won the AFCON.”
