What is joota churai?
Joota churai is a common wedding tradition in many North Indian ceremonies. During the ritual, the bride’s side tries to steal the groom’s shoes while he is busy with wedding rituals. The groom’s friends and family, on the other hand, try to protect the shoes. The game usually ends with a negotiation, where the groom’s side pays money to get the shoes back. It is meant to be light-hearted and adds a playful break during the wedding.
What happened at the wedding
The video was shared by Zesst Events from the wedding of Rhea Nadkarni and Maahir Mehta. The planners mentioned that Maahir is Aryan Khan’s best friend.
They wrote, “When the Groom’s best friend is the BA****S of Bollywood. Between sneaky steals, dramatic negotiations, and laughter echoing through every corner — this wasn’t just joota churai, it was a total dhamaal.”

At one point, he almost loses balance but still doesn’t let go. He pulls back when people try to grab it and eventually runs off with the shoe.
