Arsenal fans will love what Luis Enrique said after the Champions League final

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique called it ‘cruel’ for Arsenal to lose the Champions League final the way they did, but was sure that they would win the competition soon.

Arsenal played in their first Champions League final in 20 years against PSG in Budapest, and the took the lead in the first five minutes through a very well-taken Kai Havertz goal.

Arsenal then took a defensive shape and tried to see out the rest of the game on that scoreline. However, PSG leveled it 1-1 in the second half and the game eventually went to penalties, where Arsenal lost due to misses from Eberechi Eze and Gabriel.

It was truly cruel, and Enrique knew all about it. He said something that fans would love to read about, which shows how highly he also rated Arsenal after the 120 minutes.

He said: “It is cruel for Arsenal fans, but it is inevitable that this club wins the Champions League. Mikel Arteta will see the positives because that is the kind of guy he is.”

That line about it being inevitable that Arsenal would be winners of the Champions League one day would really make these hurting fans feel a bit better.

For the opposition coach to come out and say it is something nice, and although it would not heal everything, it would certainly make things better, slowly but surely.

And he is right. Arsenal lost once, but that does not mean they would lose the next time they are in this situation.

They have easily been a top-two team in Europe, and they would want to continue to improve as a collective, and eventually right Saturday night’s wrongs and win the Champions League.

That is something that will inevitably happen, solely because how much better they are than every single European team not named PSG.

Even the two-time reigning champions had to rely on a penalty shootout to beat Arsenal. Being unbeaten all tournament and only losing on a penalty shootout on the last match of the season is something that although would sting, fans should still be proud of it.

It is a ridiculously young team. Almost all of these players are below 30 years of age, and as they continue to improve individually, the time will come for Arsenal to lift the Champions League title.
