Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max launching soon: Dummy units reveal bigger camera, smaller Dynamic Island and thicker…

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max is already causing a stir months before it officially launches, thanks to new dummy units that show small but important changes to the design.

Bigger camera module spotted

The dummy models suggest Apple has made the camera lenses a little bigger. The size is supposedly increasing from about 16.15mm to 16.5mm across. This increase might mean better sensors or camera parts, but Apple hasn’t said anything official about camera upgrades yet.

Smaller Dynamic Island incoming

One of the most noticeable changes is that the Dynamic Island will be smaller. Leaks suggest it will shrink by about 25%, going from around 20mm to roughly 15mm wide. This should give you more screen space and make the viewing experience better overall.

Slightly thicker body design

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max is probably going to be a bit thicker than the previous model, going from about 13.13mm to 13.78mm. Even though this change is tiny, it might be because the phone has a bigger battery or updated parts inside.

Will old cases still fit?

Interestingly, the fake model reportedly fits in cases meant for the old iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, if you have a tight-fitting case, it might not work perfectly because the new phone is a little thicker and has a bigger camera bump. So, whether your old case fits will depend on its design.

Launch timeline and what to expect

We expect the iPhone 18 Pro Max to launch sometime around September 2026. Even though leaks mostly show small design improvements, there are still conflicting rumors about bigger changes, like moving Face ID under the screen. Right now, it looks like Apple is focusing on improving the current design instead of creating something completely new.
