At a time when the world continues to feel divided along cultural and political lines, a small yet meaningful moment from Anne Hathaway has struck a chord with fans online. While promoting Devil Wears Prada 2, the actor casually used the word “Inshallah” during an interaction – a phrase of Arabic origin that translates to “God willing.”

“I just really wanna hopefully live and enjoy a life. I wanna have a long, healthy life, Inshallah, I hope so. Inshallah!” she said. Kris Fade, a Dubai-based Australian-Lebanese radio presenter and socialite, who starred in Dubai Bling, reacted to the clip.

Commonly used across Muslim communities, the expression has also found everyday resonance among many speakers of Urdu and Hindi in South Asia. What stood out for many fans wasn’t just the usage itself, but the ease and familiarity with which the Academy Award-winning actress said it. Social media users pointed out that it didn’t feel performative or out of place; instead, it came across as natural, almost as if it were part of her regular vocabulary.

One user wrote, “Asians say it all the time.” Another wrote, “In South Africa we all say it , we grew up in a community of mixed religions as Indians and celebrated with each too.” A third one shed more light, “But in shaa Allah is used by Arab Christians, and in other communities too. Whatever it is, it was used well.”

Meanwhile, Anne has been named as the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Star 2026’ by People’s magazine. Anne shared the announcement on her Instagram handle and wrote, “Thank you so much to @people magazine for having me on the cover!”

Twenty years after making their iconic turns as Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel — Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway magazine in the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined a generation.

The film reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, and introduces an all-new runway of characters including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, and B.J. Novak. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as “Lily” and “Irv” from the first film.

20th Century Studios will release The Devil Wears Prada 2 in cinemas on 1st May 2026.
