The latest on of Nicolas Jackson with the Chelsea striker’s loan spell at Bayern Munich concluding recently and his future uncertain at the time of writing
Chelsea will welcome Nicolas Jackson back to Stamford Bridge this summer as Xabi Alonso gets the chance to assess the striker’s future before the new season begins.
Jackson spent the recently-concluded 2025/26 season on loan with Bayern Munich. The German champions had an obligation to buy the Senegal striker at the end of his loan spell for around £56million, however that would only be triggered if he made a certain amount of appearances – and the specifics of that exact number are unknown.
The 24-year-old striker is now set to return to Chelsea this summer and will be given the opportunity to impress new manager Alonso during pre-season, sources say. The Spanish coach, who is set to start his job officially on July 1, will assess Jackson alongside fellow No.9 options Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Emmanuel Emegha.

Jackson still has a good reputation within Chelsea and the main reason for him being loaned out last season was due to a fallout with former head coach Enzo Maresca. The Blues had initially planned for Jackson to stay for the season and fight for the No.9 spot with Joao Pedro and Delap.
While Chelsea intend to give the Senegal international, who will represent the African side during this summer’s World Cup, an opportunity to impress, sources refused to rule out a departure before the end of the window. If an amazing offer arrives Chelsea’s way, they would consider cashing in on Jackson.
Sources close to Jackson’s camp have indicated the striker is open to staying at Stamford Bridge, though a final decision over his future is yet to be made.
Alonso may have to wait before he can truly assess Jackson due to his participation in the upcoming World Cup, though the newly-appointed Chelsea boss will have more than half an eye on Senegal’s games, with Mamadou Sarr also set to feature for the Africans.
Chelsea jet off to Sydney in late-July for the first leg of their pre-season tour, before making the trip to Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia. The Blues are set to around 10 days before the start of the new Premier League season on the weekend commencing August 22.
