The biggest news of the summer transfer window came this past weekend and the window hasn’t even opened yet. Xabi Alonso has been confirmed as the new manager at Chelsea ahead of next season, marking his return to management following his sacking from Real Madrid in January. A fresh start is exactly what he needs to kickstart his managerial career once again, and he plans on poaching from Real Madrid, which could have a major impact on Los Blancos.
As being reported by theMadridZone on X, Xabi Alonso plans to bring four coaches from Real Madrid with him to join his coaching staff at Chelsea. Alonso is expected to build his Chelsea coaching staff with his trusted members who helped assist in his success at Leverkusen and the success he was working towards at the Bernabeu and hopeful help him find success and bring Chelsea back to the top of the Premier League.
Xabi Alonso’s plans may do some damage to Real Madrid
The Athletic goes on to report Xabi Alonso’s long-term assistant coach Sebastian Parrilla is one of four members of his Real Madrid backroom staff who are set to join him at Chelsea along with assistants Alberto Encinas and Benat Labaien, as well as fitness coach Ismael Camenforte Lopez are also expected to move to Stamford Bridge with Alonso.
Alonso has worked with assistant coach Sebastian Parrilla since he started his coaching days with the Real Madrid u14s back in 2018. Parilla worked with Los Blancos in their academy for almost two decades before joining Xabi Alonso’s coaching staff when he took over at the Real Sociedad B team in 2019 and followed him to Bayer Leverkusen where they found incredible success winning a domestic double in 23/24. Parilla is Xabi Alonso’s go-to man for defensive work, and set pieces something Real Madrid have struggled with since his sacking in January.
As for coaches Alberto Encinas and Benat Labaien and fitness coach Ismael Camenforte Lopes, they were all brought with Alonso from his Leverkusen staff to Real Madrid and are now expected to join him at Chelsea with Xabi Alonso trusting his staff no matter where he goes. None of the four are still at Real Madrid since his departure but with Alonso poaching his staff members from Real Madrid, it could lead to him looking to sign players from Los Blancos and bring them to Chelsea, which is the real story here.
Xabi Alonso has a task on his hands for sure at Chelsea. The Premier League side have had a difficult season and are looking for a bounce back next year which is exactly why they brough in a manger like Xabi Alonso. We all saw what him and his staff achieved at Leverkusen and with that same staff now following him to Chelsea, we could see big things happen at Stamford Bridge next season.
