Woolmark Prize expands eligibility, opens applications for next cycle

Woolmark has announced that applications are now open for the next cycle of the International Woolmark Prize (IWP), one of the fashion industry’s most prestigious awards recognising emerging design talent and innovation in Australian Merino wool.

For more than 70 years, the International Woolmark Prize has played a significant role in launching the careers of leading fashion designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino Garavani, Rahul Mishra, Gabriela Hearst and Bode. The programme continues to provide a global platform for creative excellence, innovation and craftsmanship.

As the Prize enters a new phase, Woolmark is reinforcing its commitment to identifying and supporting exceptional talent from across the international fashion sector. Reflecting the evolving nature of fashion careers, the eligibility criteria have been expanded to include designers who have developed their experience within established fashion brands and organisations, as well as those who have founded independent labels.

The revised criteria acknowledge the increasingly diverse career pathways within the industry, where many designers gain extensive expertise through leading collections, driving product innovation and shaping brand direction before launching their own ventures or continuing their careers within established businesses.

Applications are now open across eligible global markets. Following the application period, selected candidates will take part in a range of discovery and incubation programmes designed to support both creative and commercial development. Participants will also benefit from access to industry expertise, mentorship opportunities and Woolmark’s global network.

The International Woolmark Prize continues to champion the next generation of fashion leaders while highlighting the versatility, innovation and natural performance benefits of Australian Merino wool.
