Design, build quality, and display

The OnePlus 13s sports a metal and glass sandwich design, which is synonymous with high-end and flagship phones. In comparison, the Google Pixel 9A has a metal and plastic sandwich design. However, their build qualities are extremely premium. You will feel it when holding them in your hand, but the OnePlus 13s feels better.

The Pixel phone has some prominent bezels on the front, which diminish its otherwise spotless build quality. The OnePlus phone has thin bezels and delivers a better user experience. When it comes to protection, the Google Pixel 9A has Gorilla Glass 3 for the display and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. On the other hand, the OnePlus 13s has a Crystal Shield Glass protection for the display and just an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance.

Therefore, both phones have their pros and cons when it comes to design and build quality, but the OnePlus phone is overall slightly better. When it comes to the display, the Google Pixel 9A and the OnePlus 13s have excellent screens. However, the OnePlus phone’s display has a higher resolution, higher PWM frequency, and Dolby Vision support. Therefore, it has the better display.

Performance and gaming

The Google Pixel 9A features the Tensor G4 chipset, while the OnePlus 13s is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. In terms of raw performance, the Snapdragon chip is substantially faster in both CPU and GPU benchmarks. The difference is huge, and you will feel it in both UI smoothness and gaming. The OnePlus phone will feel much faster and smoother.

Camera performance

The Google Pixel 9A features a 48+13 MP rear camera setup, while the OnePlus 13s is equipped with a 50+50 MP rear camera setup. When it comes to the main camera, both phones take excellent pictures with high detail levels, wider dynamic range, and lower noise. During the day, the photos from the OnePlus phone are slightly better, but during the night, the Pixel’s photos come out on top.

When it comes to the second camera, the Google Pixel 9A has an ultrawide camera, while the OnePlus 13s has a telephoto camera. They are both great in their own way, but personally, I would prefer having the telephoto camera over an ultrawide one. Therefore, the OnePlus phone has a better rear camera setup.

When it comes to selfies, the OnePlus 13s is ever so slightly ahead in terms of facial details and dynamic range. Therefore, this phone has better camera performance.

Battery, charging, and pricing

Both the Google Pixel 9A and the OnePlus 13s have great battery life, but the latter is significantly better due to its larger battery capacity and more efficient processor. The Pixel phone can last a full day, but the OnePlus smartphone can deliver close to two days of battery life.

The OnePlus 13s has an 80W high-speed charging, which charges much quicker than the Google Pixel 9A. However, the latter has wireless charging, which is also a plus point. As for pricing, the Google Pixel 9A costs ₹39,999 on Flipkart, while the OnePlus 13s starts at a higher price of ₹52,999 on Amazon.

Which phone is better for camera performance?

The OnePlus 13s has a slightly better build quality, display, and camera. Its gaming performance and charging speeds are substantially faster. Therefore, it is not only a better phone overall but, also has better camera performance. However, the Google Pixel 9A is not significantly behind in camera and also features wireless charging. It is also much more affordable.

If cameras are your top priority and you don’t mind paying a premium, go with the OnePlus 13s. However, if you are on a tighter budget and don’t mind a small drop in camera performance and lack of a telephoto lens, then the Pixel 9A would be the better choice for you.
