The iQOO 15R features an aluminum alloy frame with a glass or plastic rear panel, depending on the color. In comparison, the Poco F7 features an aluminum frame with a glass rear panel, regardless of the chosen color.

The display of the Poco smartphone is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, which the iQOO 15R doesn’t have. Nonetheless, both phones have a similar IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Overall, the Poco F7 has better build quality. That said, while design is subjective, general users might not like the Poco phone’s rather aggressive, gamer-style aesthetic.

When it comes to the display, the iQOO 15R and Poco F7 have great AMOLED screens with accurate colors and deep blacks. However, the iQOO phone wins this matchup, as its display has a higher resolution, refresh rate, PWM frequency, and brightness rating.

Performance and gaming

The iQOO 15R is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, while the Poco F7 features the slightly older Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. They are both flagship-level chips and are extremely fast, so you won’t notice much difference between them in regular use. However, it’s a different story in gaming.

Here’s how the two chipsets perform in popular Geekbench 6 benchmarks:

Benchmarks Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
Geekbench 6 (CPU Single-core) 2749 2154
Geekbench 6 (CPU Multi-core CPU) 9860 6880
Geekbench 6 (GPU Compute) 21040 18525

In CPU single- and multi-core benchmarks, the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset is 28% and 43% faster, respectively. It also features a 14% faster GPU than the slightly older Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Therefore, the iQOO phone is the better choice for gaming.

The iQOO 15R and the Poco F7 feature similar 50+8 MP dual-rear-camera setups, but they differ in terms of aperture and sensor size. The main camera of the former has a wider aperture but a slightly smaller sensor, while the F7’s camera has a narrower aperture but is equipped with a bigger sensor. Overall, the two end up performing on a similar level.

Their ultrawide cameras are extremely similar, and you shouldn’t notice any difference between them. Moreover, the quality of the ultrawide cameras is only average and a far cry from the phones’ main cameras. Additionally, the iQOO 15R has a slightly better selfie sensor than the Poco F7 and can record at 4K resolution.

Overall, the iQOO phone wins in camera quality, but only by a small margin. However, both phones will take some decent pictures, at least from the main rear cameras.

The iQOO 15R and Poco F7 come with 7,600mAh and 7,550mAh batteries in India, respectively, so they will perform similarly and last two to three days on a single charge. However, in other regions, the Poco phone ships with a smaller battery, meaning it will lose to the iQOO phone in battery life. When it comes to charging speed, both phones can charge up extremely fast. The charging speed of the iQOO 15R and Poco F7 maxes out at 100W and 90W, respectively.

As for pricing, the iQOO 15R starts at ₹44,999, while the Poco F7 begins at ₹35,999, which is significantly more affordable.

Which gaming smartphone is overall better?

The iQOO 15R has a better display, gaming performance, and battery life. However, as you know, whether the battery life of the iQOO phone is better will depend on the region, as we mentioned earlier. In comparison, the Poco F7 features a slightly better build quality and is also significantly cheaper.

Overall, the iQOO 15R is better than the Poco F7, but its higher price negates its advantages. Therefore, the Poco phone is still a viable option for many who don’t want to spend a lot of money.
