Ace India batter Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were on Friday seen leaving Bengaluru and Jaipur respectively, after having played their quota of two Vijay Hazare Trophy matches, with their next appearance set to be the three-match ODI series against New Zealand next month.

Kohli marked his return to India’s premier domestic 50-over tournament after a 15-year gap by turning out for Delhi and making an immediate impact, producing a sublime innings that showed his enduring class and appetite for runs.

Kohli grabbed attention off the field as well, as fans and well-wishers spotted him at Bengaluru airport after Delhi’s games, eager for a glimpse of the Indian great ahead of his departure.

Kohli started his campaign in emphatic style against Andhra Pradesh, hammering a commanding 131 off 101 deliveries to anchor a successful chase. During the innings, he went past Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest batter to reach 16,000 List A runs, getting there in just 330 innings.

Kohli backed it up with a brisk 77 off 61 deliveries against Gujarat in Bengaluru, earning Player of the Match honours as Delhi squeezed past Gujarat by seven runs. The innings underlined his one-day dominance and his importance to Delhi on the domestic stage.

Meanwhile, Rohit’s stint proved eventful. Turning out for Mumbai against Sikkim at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, he blazed a breathtaking 155 off 94 deliveries, electrifying a packed crowd with his aggressive strokeplay to steer Mumbai to a commanding victory.

Rohit’s popularity was evident at Jaipur airport, where he stopped to interact with fans and staff, posing for pictures that went viral. His campaign did have a rare low, though, as he fell for a golden duck against Uttarakhand, dismissed first ball by Devendra Singh Bora.
