A Mumbai-based Triumph dealership had hinted at the price revision through a social media post earlier this month. According to the post, the price hike could have ranged from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000.
When GST 2.0 came into effect, taxes on bikes above 350cc were increased to 40 per cent. Meanwhile, bikes under 350cc got a tax cut from 28 per cent to 18 per cent. To take advantage of the new tax structure, Bajaj had decided to downsize the Triumph 400 range to under 350cc. Following the switch to the 349cc engine, all models except the Speed T4 received a price cut of up to Rs. 18,000.
This price revision has now made the Speed T4 more expensive than the 399cc version. With the new 349cc engine, the Speed T4 now makes 28.6bhp at 7500rpm and 31Nm at 5500rpm, a drop of 2bhp and 5Nm.

Despite the price hike, other models in the new 349cc lineup are still more affordable than the 400cc versions. But the price hike takes away a bit of the benefit that came with the downsizing and subsequent price cut. So far, the brand has not announced any changes to the prices of the Scrambler 400 X and the Tracker 400. However, Triumph might increase the prices of both models down the line.
