MG’s Take Against The Mahindra XUV 7XO –

Expected Launch – November 2026

The first on the list is likely an MG rival to the Mahindra XUV 7XO. The model has been spotted testing several times on Indian roads, which hints that the SUV will be based on the Wuling Starlight 560. It boasts a similar design to the Wuling SUV and offers a slew of modern tech and features.

It will be the brand’s first PHEV model for India, expected to use a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid setup. Moreover, an electric iteration of this SUV is also under consideration. Industry sources claim that the model might arrive by this year’s festive season. Now, as it will rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, we expect the model to be priced quite aggressively.

MG’s New Innova Hycross Rival –

Expected Launch – Early 2027

Along with targeting the XUV 7XO, MG will also look to take on India’s popular 7-seater, the Innova. For this, MG is expected to bring the Wuling Darion-based model – which basically will be larger than the Innova, making it even more spacious than the Innova, somewhat like a Kia Carnival.

The model will be the brand’s second PHEV offering. It is also expected to use the 1.5-litre petrol hybrid engine. In the global market, the Wuling Darion also has an electric version; however, we haven’t received any confirmation regarding whether MG is considering the electric version for India. The Darion-based SUV is expected to enter the Indian market by early 2026, and as it will be competing against the Innova, expect its prices to range between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Premium Coupe SUV From MG

Expected Launch – July 2026

MG is planning to launch a premium coupe SUV, IM6, positioned under the MG Select umbrella. As a premium coupe SUV, it competes with the Tesla Model Y in international markets. The automaker will bring this model to India via the CBU route, so the price of this SUV will range between Rs 60 lakh and Rs 70 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The IM6 is an electric-only model that uses a 100kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor (RWD) or dual motor setup (AWD). It offers a claimed range of nearly 625km on a single charge. The model boasts several modern features and tech that make it a fairly premium SUV, compared to its rivals.

MG’s New Innovation With Windsor

Expected Launch – Mid to Late 2027

Windsor has been the main captain of driving MG’s sales in India. MG has already tried to introduce several other features to this bestseller, including a larger battery pack and a cab-only version. Now, the automaker is planning to introduce a perfect SUV version of this crossover.

MG is yet to reveal all the details of the SUV, but expect the model to be built on the Windsor’s Global Smart Electric Platform. MG has yet to share any teasers revealing the design cues of this new SUV. Expect it to have an upright, boxy body while retaining the headlamp and taillamp design. Moreover, expect it to use the same 38kWh and 52.9kWh battery pack options. We expect the MG Windsor-based SUV to be priced between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Astor Replacement

Expected Launch – Mid to Late 2027

MG is reportedly developing a new SUV to replace the Astor due to its low sales. The model is expected to launch by late 2027. The details of this new SUV are currently scarce, and we expect it to be based on the brand’s all-in-one modular SIGMA (SAIC Intelligent Global Modular Architecture) platform. It is unclear at this point what the top hat will look like, but it will likely differ from the MG One SUV available abroad.

With the changes, we expect the model to be priced similar to the current price of the Astor to get some sales.
