TikTok personality Gabbie Gonzalez, who was arrested in Northern California last week, has been charged in Los Angeles County along with her father and a Hawaii surf instructor in an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting singer Jack Avery, the former Why Don’t We member who shares a child with her.

Gonzalez, 24, known online for lifestyle, travel and motherhood content, was booked into the Humboldt County jail in Eureka on Friday, according to county jail records. She was later transferred to Los Angeles County, where custody records indicate she is being held without bond.

On Tuesday, prosecutors charged Gonzalez, her father, Francisco Gonzalez, and Kai Cordrey with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and solicitation to commit murder, according to a criminal complaint.

The alleged plot grew out of a long-running custody and visitation dispute between Avery and Gabriela Gonzalez over their young daughter, according to an affidavit.

Investigators alleged that Francisco Gonzalez, a 59-year-old Miami lawyer, became “deeply involved” in the custody conflict and in efforts to “discredit, monitor, and remove Avery” from the child’s life. Witnesses told investigators he was hostile toward Avery and had said words “to the effect that it would be cheaper if Avery were dead,” according to the affidavit.

Cordrey, identified in reports as a Hawaii-based surf instructor, became involved around March 2021, when prosecutors allege Francisco Gonzalez began communicating with him about recruiting someone to threaten or harass Avery.

Around the same time, court documents allege, Gabriela Gonzalez portrayed Avery as an “unfit” and “dangerous” parent during custody proceedings, spoke about wanting him dead and discussed hiring a hit man.

Investigators later alleged that Gabriela Gonzalez and Cordrey discussed using the dark web and Bitcoin to arrange the killing and staging Avery’s death to look like a car crash in Los Angeles.

Financial records showed Francisco Gonzalez sent Cordrey $10,000 through Square in April 2021, according to the affidavit. Investigators alleged the money was disguised as payment for web-development services, though Cordrey allegedly told investigators no such work was performed.

Federal agents later brought an undercover agent posing as a hit man into the investigation, according to court documents. During a call with the undercover agent, Francisco Gonzalez allegedly used coded language, including the word “bullrun,” and discussed prior Bitcoin payments and payment after completion.

Avery, who lives in Kauai, Hawaii, spoke in a September 2025 interview on the “Zach Sang Show” about FBI agents warning him that someone was trying to have him killed. He did not publicly identify any suspects at the time.

Gabriela Gonzalez is expected to be arraigned Thursday. Francisco Gonzalez remained in custody in Florida, and Cordrey’s custody status was not immediately clear.
