Super Mario coffins go viral after funeral company launches unofficial collab

A Brazilian funeral company has turned heads online after unveiling a new line of coffins inspired by Super Mario, blending pop culture with end-of-life tributes in a way few expected.

Funerals based on the person’s favorite franchise aren’t uncommon, with many representing their favorite games, TV shows, and movies during their celebration of life. Well, now one Brazilian funeral company, has gone viral by creating coffins featuring designs based on iconic characters.

As showcased on their Instagram, Bignotto, which specializes in urn and coffin manufacturing, revealed their new line of Mario-style coffins, complete with Princess Peach, Mario, Luigi, Toad, and even Yoshi. Naturally, the video quickly went viral.

During the video, the company joked that when it’s “game over” for you, you’ll want to be buried in these unique Nintendo coffins.

Each design and character inspiration is represented by their unique colors, so pink for Peach, red for Toad and Mario, and green for Yoshi and Luigi. The only difference is that each gets its own wooden plaque to tell them apart.

The design is pretty subtle for its inspiration, but still a wild decision to represent the colorful, cheery characters inside a coffin.

Naturally, the wacky designs have quickly gone viral, with many loving the idea and asking for Sonic, Bowser, and other classic characters. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Bignotto has geeked out on their designs, offering ones for Barbie and Fairly OddParents.

The only issue is that Nintendo is famous for being particularly strict on how its IPs are used, so fingers crossed we don’t have to hold a funeral for these new coffin designs.
