Mahindra Hybrid Spotted Testing-

From the heavily camouflaged test mule, we can clearly identify the silhouette of Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e. You might think that the Indian automaker is planning to introduce some new special editions for these SUVs. But you might be wrong. With these spottings, we expect Mahindra to be testing the advanced hybrid technology.

Details-

Mahindra’s hybrids are not just a rumour anymore. Earlier, seniors from the Mahindra management team discussed that they have been developing hybrid technology. But until now, it was unclear which Mahindra would feature this new technology. Based on the sighting, we can predict that the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e could be the brand’s very first hybrids.

According to industry experts, this hybrid powertrain is likely to be developed alongside the 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines. The 1.5-litre unit is more likely to be found in these premium SUVs. Paired with the electric motor, the combined power is expected to be hiked by 60-80 bhp. Not just the power with the hybrid tech, we can expect the range of the all-electric SUVs to improve significantly. That said, we can expect mileage over 30 kmpl. This translates to extending the range of BE 6 and XEV 9e up to 1000+ km. Also, thanks to the INGLO platform, it is flexible enough to fit in this hybrid powertrain for extended range.

Expected Launch & Pricing-

While the official launch of Mahindra’s Hybrids remains under wraps. But based on the steps Mahindra has been taking to develop the Hybrid, we can expect launches by the end of 2026 or early 2027. Along with the introduction of new advanced technologies, SUV prices are also expected to increase by Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh. Meaning the prices for the hybrid based on the BE 6 would be between Rs 21.04 lakh and Rs 31.27 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). While another hybrid based on the XEV 9e could be priced between Rs 24 lakh and Rs 34 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
