One of South India’s biggest actress, Trisha Krishnan, has always made headlines not just because of her work but also for her personal life. She was frequently linked to co-stars throughout the 2000s. However, most of these reports were never confirmed by the actress and remained media speculation. At a time when Trisha is rumoured to be dating Thalapathy Vijay, let’s revisit her romantic life over the years.
Trisha’s most talked-about relationship was with actor Rana Daggubati. The two were friends for years before dating. While Trisha largely remained private, Rana later acknowledged on television that they had been in a relationship and that “things didn’t work out.” Despite the breakup, they remained cordial.
In January 2015, Trisha got engaged to Chennai-based businessman and producer Varun Manian. The engagement ceremony was attended by family members and close friends from the film industry. However, their wedding was later called off, citing personal differences.
Later in an interview, Trisha revealed why she stepped back from marrying Varun and told OnManorama, “The person I was supposed to marry, asked me to stop acting. Instead of films, I chose to put a full stop to my engagement. I will only take a break when I get pregnant. If I am not offered lead roles, I will do characters that suit my image but I won’t move away from the film industry. My wish is to act until my last breath.”
Over the years, Trisha has repeatedly been linked to actor Vijay. They have remained one of Tamil cinema’s most-loved on-screen duos. Their crackling chemistry in hits like Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006), and Kuruvi (2008) had fans hooked. It was around 2008, after the release of Kuruvi, that fans began speculating about off-screen chemistry due to their strong on-screen bond.
After Kuruvi, Vijay and Trisha suddenly stopped working together — fueling gossip that their closeness during Ghilli had turned into something more. Rumours even did the rounds that Vijay’s family had asked him to keep his distance from Trisha post Kuruvi. Both stars, however, denied any romance, insisting they were “just friends.”
Earlier this year, Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, moved a family in Tamil Nadu seeking divorce, alleging infidelity after more than 25 years of marriage. She accused Vijay of being involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress, stating that she became aware of the alleged relationship in 2021. However, it should also be noted that the name of the actress, with whom Vijay is said to be in a relationship was been revealed in the plea. However, netizens were sure that it must be Trisha.
While Trisha and Vijay have never confirmed or denied their relationship, their romance rumours further fueled when the actress cheered for Thalapathy after he registered a landslide victory in Tamil Nadu assembly elections earlier this year. She even attended Vijay’s oath taking ceremony.
