Every year, thousands of aspiring artists come to the film industry with dreams of becoming stars, but only a few manage to make their mark.

This is the story of one such actress who, with hard work, dedication, courage and perseveranc,e earned a special place in the audience’s heart.

Curious? Let us break the suspense for you. She is Rasika Dugal, known for her brilliant performances in projects like Mirzapur, Delhi Crime and Manto.

Born on January 17, 1985 in Jamshedpur, the actress completed her bachelor’s in mathematics from Delhi. Later, she pursued a postgraduate diploma in social communications media.

The actress told Dainik Bhaskar, “When I was a part of the Dramatic Society at LSR College in Delhi, I loved performing on stage but never thought of making a career out of it.”

She intended to stay in academics until she learned FTII was reopening its acting course after 26 years. She applied and secured one of just 20 seats out of 500 applicants.

In the early days of her career, Rasika appeared in several films but only in minor roles that didn’t bring her much recognition.

As a newcomer, she faced many challenges. According to Rasika, several producers dismissed her as “not saleable” and one of the directors even disrespected her.

Despite the setbacks,back-to-back rejections and financial responsibilities, Rasika Dugal never gave up and kept giving auditions.

Interestingly, for her first audition, Rasika borrowed a top from a friend. Thankfully, she landed a role, though small, in the film. That project was Anwar (2007).

After nearly eight years of struggle, her talent finally shone through in films like Qissa and Manto.

And with shows like Delhi Crime and Mirzapur, Rasika Dugal proved once and for all that she is an actor of extraordinary range and depth.
