Team GO Rocket is on the prowl in the Pokémon GO Precious Pals: Taken Over event, which is taking over from January 23 at 12:00 a.m. to January 25, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Not only is Team GO Rocket appearing more frequently, but they’ll be bringing new Shadow Pokémon with them including Shadow Chespin, Shadow Fennekin, and Shadow Froakie. This event is a rare opportunity to use a Charged TM to help your Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration, so take advantage by helping your Shadow Pokémon learn a different Charged Attack.
Rocket over to Pokémon GO to make the most of these event bonuses:
-
Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons
-
You can use a Charged TM to help Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration
-
Pokémon caught via one-star and three-star Shadow Raids during the event will have a wider variance of Attack, Defense, and HP
Chase down Giovanni and his Shadow Incarnate Forme Thundurus with Special Research. This research will become available at the start of the event, and Trainers who progress through the tasks will earn a Super Rocket Radar to help catch the Team GO Rocket boss Giovanni and ultimately rescue Shadow Incarnate Forme Thundurus. Trainers have until March 3, 2026, at 9:59 a.m. local time to claim the Special Research.
Take a break from catching Giovanni to complete event-themed Field Research tasks. Rewards include Fast TMs, Charged TMs, and Mysterious Components. Take part in event-themed Collection Challenges to earn XP, Stardust, and one Rocket Radar.
Take on the challenge, Trainers!
