Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been spotted in public testing, with leaks pointing to a wider passport-style design aimed at users seeking a more practical foldable
Apart from the numerous leaks that have surfaced so far, Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable handset has now been spotted in public. With Samsung’s Unpacked event scheduled for July 22 just around the corner, the company’s next generation of foldable devices has likely entered an advanced testing phase. This could include real-world usage testing, which is where a fresh glimpse of the wide-fold device was reportedly captured.
The handset was concealed inside an obscure “anti-leak” protective case that hid most of its design details. However, its wider foldable form factor and dual rear-camera setup were enough to reveal its identity.

Recent leaks from Ice Universe also showcased a side-by-side comparison of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 variants. One model featured a tall and narrow design and was reportedly referred to as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, similar to its predecessor. The standard Fold 8, on the other hand, is expected to adopt a wider, passport-style design.
The book-style foldable is tipped to feature a slightly smaller 7.6-inch inner display paired with a wider 4:3 aspect ratio. With Samsung’s foldable portfolio continuing to expand, the company may eventually consider phasing out the Flip series, which has consistently trailed its book-style counterpart in sales.
The Fold 8 could emerge as an appealing alternative for users who do not see a practical use case for the Flip but still want the versatility and productivity benefits of a foldable smartphone.
