Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Hands-On Leak Reveals A New Camera Island Design

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra release date is tipped to be later than usual, but that’s not keeping the rumor mill quiet. A new hands-on video of the upcoming flagship phone has surfaced online, offering our best look yet at what could be the final Galaxy S26 Ultra design. This follows recent Galaxy S26 photo leaks, which suggested a design language similar to the current Galaxy S25 lineup. However, there are a few noteworthy changes worth mentioning.

The latest round of Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra hands-on photos and videos comes from popular tipster Steve H. McFly (@OnLeaks).

He shared dummy unit photos of the Galaxy S26 in a white color option, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra is seen in both white and black variants. The Galaxy S26 Ultra hands-on video showcases a new camera module (which might polarize Samsung fans) while retaining a flat-sided design with more rounded corners.

When Samsung released the Galaxy S25 Ultra, I was impressed by its lightweight design. At 218 grams, the Galaxy S25 Ultra was one of the lightest big flagship phones of the year. However, it was accompanied by unergonomic sharp edges.

This appears to be improved on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, as the hands-on video with dummy units shows off slightly softer edges on the sides while keeping the flat-sided aesthetic.

Another major change comes in the form of the camera island design. The Galaxy S26 Ultra could adopt a Galaxy Z Fold 7-like camera module. This is a departure from the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S24 Ultra designs, where the sensors protruded directly from the back panel.

On the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, you can expect three vertically aligned sensors housed within a raised camera island, with a fourth sensor and an LED flash protruding separately from the back panel. On the other hand, the standard Galaxy S26 features a triple rear camera unit with uniform lenses.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s double-raised camera module design might worry users who are bothered by phone wobble on a table.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Release Date

While Samsung has yet to confirm the Galaxy S26 Ultra launch date, it is tipped for a February 2026 release, which is a month later than the usual January window.

The Galaxy S26 series is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 chipset, depending on the region. Other rumored upgrades include faster 60W charging and a new “Flex Magic Pixel” display technology, among other minor upgrades.
