A very big week is coming up for Switch and Switch 2 owners. On both Switch platforms we’re seeing the release of Nintendo’s last first party game of the year, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. This one has been 18+ years in the making, so to say it’s hotly anticipated would be a massive understatement. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally drops on Dec. 4th, 2025.
Along with that, specifically for Switch 2 owners, Ubisoft is bringing over their latest high-profile port with Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This one was rumored for quite some time, but Ubisoft made it official just a few months back. There’s no doubt this game will be a technical showcase for the Switch 2, with Ubisoft pushing the limits of the system just as they did with Star Wars Outlaws. Assassin’s Creed Shadows lands on Switch 2 Dec. 2nd, 2025.
Unless you’re very lucky…
Reports are coming in that select retailers have decided to break the street dates for both Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. We have no idea how this keeps happening, but apparently wires have been crossed once again and copies are making their way into the wild. It’s not a big deal with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as that game is already available on other platforms. With Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the stakes are obviously much higher!
If you’re out and about trying to hunt down a copy of either of these games before their street dates, we wish you the best of luck! We also want to offer a specific warning with the case of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. As copies are already being sold, be careful where you go on social media, as spoilers are already starting to crop up. If you don’t want this one ruined, steer clear of your normal online gaming haunts!
(…and no worries, we won’t be sharing any spoilers here at all. You’re safe, we promise!)
