Fans spot Washma Butt biryani shop in Dhurandhar scene.
Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar may be packed with action and tension, but the Internet has found something completely unexpected to obsess over — a quick shot of a biryani and tea shop named after viral meme sensation from Islamabad, Washma Butt. The small detail appears for barely a second, yet it has become one of the most talked-about moments from the film.
The Easter egg was spotted during a scene where Mohammad Aalam (Gaurav Gera) takes Hamza (Ranveer Singh) to a local chai spot. Right before they enter, the camera clearly shows the board: “Washma Butt Biryani and Chai Shop.” That was all fans needed — and social media erupted.
Internet Reacts: ‘Aditya Dhar, We See You!’
The scene quickly made its way to X and Instagram, with fans sharing screenshots and laughing at the filmmaker’s cheeky nod to one of Pakistan’s most viral memes. One user wrote, “Did anyone notice the ‘Washma Butt’ shop board in #Dhurandhar? Had me in splits!” Another said, “This tea spot in #Dhurandhar movie was called WASHMA BUTT !! Memer guy in the creative team for sure !!” Someone else joked, “How has anyone not yet brought up the “washma butt” bit in #Dhurandhar? 🤣🤣 it was obviously done on purpose and most likely taken from this old meme.”
The moment has now turned into a favourite pause-and-rewind scene for viewers.
About Dhurandhar and Its Cast
Inspired by real events linked to Karachi’s Lyari gang network, Dhurandhar blends undercover operations, crime, and intense drama.
Set in Pakistan, Dhurandhar follows an Indian spy who infiltrates the Lyari gangs. Directed by Aditya Dhar and based on true incidents, the story unfolds in the early 2000s. The cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan, alongside Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
News18 Showsha gave the film 4 stars. An excerpt from the review read, “Dhurandhar is marked with profanity, gore and violence, lots of it, but it only adds more character and even nuance to the narrative. Here, none of it is for cheap thrills. And that’s what makes this film unique and stand out from the host of those that uses savagery as a titillation device. Before we deep dive into what this film entails, let us mention that be prepared for a complex, long, meandering story set against an intricate political and espionage landscape – one that’s based on an incredibly true story but also dramatised for effect.”
