- Wilson starred as a writer on a trip to Paris who inadvertently travels back in time to the 1920s in Woody Allen’s 2011 comedy
Quentin Tarantino did not spare Owen Wilson from his ire while discussing his favorite movies of the 21st century.
Tarantino, 62, made headlines this week when he described Paul Dano’s acting in the 2007 movie There Will Be Blood as “weak sauce” during his Tuesday, Dec. 2 appearance on the The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast. The filmmaker was a guest on host Bret Easton Ellis’ show to discuss his opinions on the best movies made since 2000. In doing so, he also identified Wilson, 57, as an actor whose work he just does not care for.
“Oddly enough, I really can’t stand Owen Wilson. I mean, I can’t stand him,” Tarantino said, even as he listed Wilson’s 2011 movie Midnight in Paris as his 10th favorite movie of the century.
“And I spent the first time watching the movie loving it and hating him,” the Pulp Fiction director added. “The second time I watched the movie, I was like ‘Okay, don’t be such a prick. He’s not so bad. He’s not so bad.’ And then the third time I watched it I found myself watching him.”
Wilson starred in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris as a struggling writer on a trip to Paris with his fiancée who inadvertently travels back in time to the 1920s, where he meets iconic authors and artists like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Salvador Dali.
A representative for Wilson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

“Midnight in Paris was one of the last movies to actually play almost five, six months [in movie theaters],” Tarantino noted.
Tarantino named Shaun of the Dead, Mad Max: Fury Road, Unstoppable, Zodiac, There Will Be Blood, Dunkirk, Toy Story 3, Lost in Translation and Black Hawk Down as his other nine favorite movies of the century thus far.

The director reiterated his dislike for Wilson’s acting when he criticized Dano, 41, later in the podcast as he and Ellis discussed There Will Be Blood.
“I don’t care for [Dano]. I don’t care for Owen Wilson,” he added. “I don’t care for Matthew Lillard.”
