The Prince and Princess of Wales have released a new portrait of Princess Charlotte to mark her 11th birthday.
The photograph, taken over Easter during a family holiday in Cornwall, shows Charlotte smiling and walking through a field of daisies. She is wearing a navy blue and red striped jumper and jeans, with her hair loose.
Posted on the prince and princess’s social media platforms, it was accompanied by the message “wishing Charlotte a very happy 11th birthday!” and included a birthday cake and candles emoji.
The picture was taken by Matt Porteous, a photographer who William and Kate increasingly turn to for informal and relaxed family pictures which depict behind-the-scenes glimpses of their private lives.
Last month, in keeping with the annual tradition of issuing new photos of all three of their children, Prince George, 12, Charlotte and Prince Louis, eight, they released a photo taken by Porteous to mark Louis’s birthday.
Captured on the same family holiday in Cornwall, it showed their youngest child, gap-toothed and grinning in a Boden zip-up fleece, out to sea on a boat.
Porteous is also an accomplished videographer, who often accompanies the couple on official engagements and some overseas trips. A separate post showed a charming film of Louis, in a wetsuit, smiling up at the camera, jumping off a boat into the sea, sprinting across the sand and playing cricket on the beach.
William and Kate also issued one of Porteous’s pictures to mark their 15th wedding anniversary on April 29. It showed the couple and their children, lying in the sunshine on a grassy bank in Cornwall where they often spend holidays, with their two cocker spaniels, Orla, a black cocker given to the family by James Middleton, the princess’s brother, in 2020, and her son, Otto, a brown cocker.
The newest addition to the Wales family has been such a hit, that his first birthday was also marked with a new picture. On Friday, Kensington Palace released a photograph of Otto, taken by Kate, with the message: “Welcome to the family, Otto. 1 today.”
