A few say that small and mid-budget films should be released directly on OTT platforms, skipping the theatrical release. However, popular Bollywood director Anubhav Sinha made a firm statement that he will never release his films directly on OTT platforms. His recent release Assi, headlined by Taapsee Pannu, had a disappointing theatrical run, but it is faring well on OTT.
When asked if anyone advised him to release Assi on OTT, Anubhav Sinha told Mid-day, “Nobody says that to me because now it is established that I will not take a film to OTT directly. It’s always for the theatres first.”
Anubhav Sinha helmed popular Hindi films like Ra. One, Article 15, Dus, Mulk, and Thappad. He also directed the webseries IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack starring Vijay Verma for Netflix.
