Recently, the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce proposed a shift from the rental system to a percentage-based revenue model. However, the Active Producers Guild issued a statement rejecting this 60-50-40 percentage-sharing model, and Mythri Movie Makers is among those who opposed it. The effect is now visible on their new production, Jetlee.
The Asian chain & theatres under the control of SVC are not screening the film, including the most preferred premium multiplexes AMB Cinemas and AAA Cinemas. This is also the reason why bookings haven’t commenced yet for Jetlee in several single screens across Hyderabad.
The issue isn’t just confined to Jetlee. More films from top banners that opposed the percentage model might face trouble in the coming days, with TFCC and Producers Guild not being on the same page.
Producers are of the opinion that the newly proposed model will impact their revenues considerably, while TFCC believes it could bring back the glory to single screens. Let’s see how this standoff resolves.
