Paige’s first title defense is ruined by NXT’s Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence

Paige’s surprise return was one of the best stories at WrestleMania 42, and she capped it off by winning the WWE women’s tag team championship in her comeback match.

The good times continued tonight (Apr. 24) on SmackDown when she cut her first promo back in WWE to declare that SmackDown is her house.

It turns out that Brie Bella and Paige are fighting champions, so they wanted to put the titles on the line after their promo was interrupted by Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. We never got to find out who the better team is, though, because the end of the match was ruined by run-ins from Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid). The NXT trio beat the hell out of champions and challengers before making their leave.

WWE cut a large number of wrestlers off the roster earlier tonight, perhaps in part to make room for apparent NXT call-ups like this.
